Every year, millions of pilgrims from around the world converge on Lourdes, at the foot of the Pyrenees, to pray at the Grotto of Massabielle, where the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. The Sanctuaries of Our Lady of Lourdes offer a unique setting for prayer, reflection and fraternity.
The Grotto of Massabielle
Site of the 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette Soubirous between 11 February and 16 July 1858. Pilgrims come to pray, touch the rock and find peace.
The Baths
The Lourdes baths welcome pilgrims who wish to immerse themselves in the spring water, in a gesture of faith and surrender.
The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
Built above the Grotto, this upper basilica is a jewel of neo-Gothic architecture consecrated in 1876.
The Marian Procession
Every evening at 9pm, the torchlight procession gathers thousands of pilgrims singing the Ave Maria in a moving display of devotion.
